Katanak’s sound is a fusion of indie and modern rock, with feel-good vibes, catchy hooks, and a style that’s equal parts fresh and nostalgic. Think of the confident energy of The 1975 mixed with a bit of Aussie charm!

Starting out in the Brisbane music scene eight years ago, Dylan explored different roles – drummer, guitarist, and vocalist – before creating Katanak. Inspired to write his own songs during a school fundraiser, he’s never looked back! After years of honing his sound, he now performs his own music, joined by an amazing drummer and bassist who bring his songs to life on stage.

🏆 What Are Your Proudest Achievements or Milestones?

2022 was huge for Katanak, with their first regional tour across Queensland! Playing every weekend to new faces has been a major milestone, filled with great gigs, unexpected challenges (like a last-minute venue change!), and unforgettable moments. These shows have taught Katanak to think on his feet and connect with audiences in new ways.

💪 Have You Faced Any Challenges and How Did You Overcome Them?

Touring isn’t without its hiccups! From venues with no equipment to scrambling for a new venue when one closed unexpectedly, Katanak has learned to roll with the punches. Each challenge has only strengthened his resolve and taught him to embrace every experience – even the unpredictable ones!
